Miss North Carolina, Chelsea Cooley, 21, of Charlotte, NC, was crowned Miss
USA 2005! Cooley is the first woman from North Carolina ever to win the
pageant in its 54-year history.
Cooley, from Charlotte, NC and Independence High School, won the Miss
USA pageant in Baltimore, MD in April before an estimated 250 million
worldwide television viewers. Cooley was Miss North Carolina Teen USA
in 2000 and Miss United States Teen 2001, and studies fashion marketing
at the Art Institute of Charlotte. She finished in the top 10 at the
Miss Universe pageant held in Bangkok, Thialand.
