Google to open a data center in Lenoir, North Carolina. |
Google Inc. announced its plans to build a data center in Western North Carolina, namely in the city of Lenoir, Caldwell County.
Google plans to create 210 new jobs with an average annual salary of $49,300. In return Google expects to get from the state and the county tax breaks and other financial incentives, which promise to be some of the highest in the state's economic history.
The State has given Google a Jobs Development Investment Grant: $4.8 million in 12 years. In addition to that, Google may save up to $20 million in taxes via a Tax Credits for Growing Businesses program. The more Google pays in taxes, the more it gets back.
The city of Lenoir has a population of 60,000 with an average annual income of $20.000. Lenoir is located near Hickory, NC.
