Иммиграционная служба США утвердила новый список вопросов для иммигрантов, претендующих на получение американского гражданства. Ниже приводятся 144 новых вопроса с ответами.

Новые тесты потребуют более глубокого знания и понимания американского государственного устройства и истории.

Так, соискателям придется не просто назвать три основные ветви власти в США, но также объяснить, почему в стране принята именно такая структура управления государством.

Другим примером является блок вопросов, посвященных истории Гражданской войны. Теперь на вопрос о значении так называемой "Прокламации об эмансипации" будет недостаточно ответить, что она освободила рабов. Потребуется объяснение главных причин Гражданской войны и перечисление основных ее этапов.

Новый сборник тестов, который содержит 144 вопроса, будет опробован в 10 городах США, где принимаются экзамены у потенциальных граждан. После этого подразделение министерства национальной безопасности, занимающееся вопросами иммиграции и предоставления гражданства, проведет тщательный анализ полученных результатов.

В дальнейшем количество вопросов планируется сократить до 100. Новая программа вступит в силу в 2008 году.
