Latest immigration statistics have been published. 18,506 persons from the former Soviet Union immigrated to the United States in 2005.

The number of foreign nationals that visited the United States on a non-immigrant visa has increased. In 2003, the number was less than 4.9 million, in 2004 - around 5 million. The number of immigrants has also increased, from 364,700 in 2003 to 379,400 in 2004.
Immigration by countries:
Russia - 6,361 (6,169 of them are relatives of immigrants); Ukraine - 5,503 (2,095 immigrated as relatives, 3,302 won the green card lottery); Belarus - 760 (218 - relatives; 589 - green card lottery winners); Moldova - 435 (231 and 183 accordingly)
Armenia - 962 (364 - relatives; 516 - green card winners); Georgia - 345 (173 and 162); Azerbaizhan - 270 (115 and 145); Uzbekistan - 1,242 (308 and 907); Kazakhstan - 1,100 (943 and 137); Kyrgyzstan - 203 (106 and 105), Tadzhikistn - 66 (30 and 28); Turkmenistan - 67 (23 and 42).
From the Baltic states: Lithuania - 946 (299 and 605); Latvia - 178 (113 and 52); Estonia - 68 (49 and 16).
