B1 and B2 Visas

B1/B2 Visa (Business travelers, tourists, guests visa)

Visa
Nationality Act of 1952, as amended by subsequent legislation. Nonimmigrant visa classifications are based on the primary purpose of the applicant's visit. U.S. immigration law places the burden of proof on the applicant to show that he or she is entitled to classification as a non-immigrant.

Most non-immigrants are temporary visitors coming for business or pleasure; applicants for such visas must establish that they:

  • have a residence abroad which they do not intend to abandon;
  • are coming to the United States for a definite temporary period;
  • will depart the country when the visit is over;
  • have permission to enter a foreign area after their stay in the U.S.;
  • have access to sufficient funds to cover all expenses of their trip.

Individuals applying for business visas must be able to explain what kind of business trip they are making. The consular officer reviewing the case may ask the applicant for the itinerary of his or her stay in the U.S. Details are very important. A general statement of business intent is not as helpful as specific information.

Individuals applying for a tourist visa should indicate where they will be staying. If visiting friends or relatives, private correspondence or letters of invitation from them may be helpful. The consular officer reviewing the case may ask how the applicant met the person he or she is visiting. He or she should be prepared to describe his or her relationship to the person and whether the person in the U.S. is an American citizen, a legal permanent resident (a U.S. green card holder), or a nonimmigrant.

The fees for citizens of Russia are as follows:

Application fee $100 (non-refundable)
Multiple entry, 1-year validity $no fee, only application fee
Multiple entry, 2-year validity $100
