On March 1, North Carolina resident Peggy Hilt confessed that she murdered her daughter Nina (Viktoria Bazhenova) whom she adopted from Irkutsk, Russia. Peggy Hilt is facing up to 40 years in prison.
Hilt's confession, Echo Moskvi reports, might influence the judge's decision, however. Hilt might hope for a shorter sentence, possibly as short as 5 years in prison. The prosecuting attorney plans to ask for a maximum sentence.
In July 2005, Peggy Hilt has been charged with
killing her 2 1/2 -year-old daughter after she told a detective that
she shook, kicked and repeatedly punched the adopted Russian child Nina
(Viktoria Bazhenova).
